Introduction

Many of the walks described here can be completed by anyone with an average level of fitness.

However, if you are unsure about this be sure to have check with your physician as you should do before embarking on any new exercise activity. Any route featuring particulary steep ascents or are at high altitudes will have this highlighted at the start of the route description, so you can plan your walks with confidence!

Appropriate travel insurance is highly recommended as well as taking the telephone number of the PGHM (Peloten de Gendarmerie de Haute Mountain); the Mountain Rescue service in case of misfortune. The PGHM contact details can be found in the Useful Info section on the menu on the left.

The Useful Info section also contains details for the Compagnie du Mont Blanc who operate the lift stations and the Montenvers railway.
