IntroductionHere are some recommendations of what equipment to take along.
An altimeter or GPS are not required but can be useful for determining your location. An altimeter can be very useful for pacing yourself on routes with large ascents. A medium sized rucksack should be sufficient. Ideally with a hip strap to reduce the risk of back strain and injury.
Also be sure to take a source of water, 1-2 litres per person is a good rule of thumb
but of course this will depend on your personal physiology.
